New Marketing Position to Sell Kentucky Brand

Ramping up the selling of Kentucky’s racing and breeding programs is the main goal of a new marketing and communications coordinator position created by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association/Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders.
Melissa Nolan, who has an economics degree from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in business administration from Midway College, has filled this new position, the association announced April 13.
“We are trying to come up with some good communication strategies to offset the surrounding states that have the state incentive programs and purse programs from casino gaming,” said David Switzer, KTA/KTOB executive director. “We have some good stories to tell. Melissa is enthusiastic, and the kind of young people we need.”
Nolan worked previously for the U.S Pony Club, where she was involved in member services. One of her first priorities is to step up the KTA/KTOB's presence through social media outlets and promote the Kentucky-bred brand.
“I think my passion for the sport of Thoroughbred racing and my experiences in all facets of the equine industry make me the ideal fit for this position,” Nolan said. “I look forward to getting started and making an impact within an industry that I care deeply about.”
