Undefeated European racing superstar Frankel will undergo a second scan next week to determine if a foreleg injury he received during a routine gallop April 11 may be more serious, according to a report from Racing Post.

Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, told the Racing Post: "That will tell us more, I wish I could say more conclusively one way or the other, but we just don't know. We remain hopeful but obviously it is a concern; we wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise.”

Juddmonte Farms’ 4-year-old home bred by Galileo was scheduled to make his 2012 debut May 19 in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury. Trainer Sir Henry Cecil had said earlier the injury appeared “superficial,” according to a statement released by the British Press Association. About the cause of the injury, Cecil had said Frankel "is such an extravagant mover that he hit himself" during the gallop at Newmarket in England.
