Six Entered for Keeneland's Beaumont Stakes
The feature of Keeneland’s nine-race Sunday program, the Beaumont will go to post at 4:42 p.m. EDT.
Sacristy won the Jan. 1 Old Hat (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park as the 6-5 favorite for her first stakes win. It followed an impressive 6 3/4-length maiden special weight victory at Churchill Downs in November. Trained by Wayne Catalano, the Pulpit filly enters the Beaumont off a distant third-place finish in the Jan. 29 Forward Gal (gr. II) at Gulfstream when she was buried by Broadway's Alibi.
Sacristy has worked three times at Keeneland, her latest breeze on April 10 when she went four furlongs in :50 4/5, the slowest of 30 works that morning. Julien Leparoux will have the mount for the first time.
Other fillies entering off wins are Gypsy Robin, Milania, and Piskacha. Co-owned and trained by Wesley Ward, Gypsy Robin won the listed Sorority Stakes at Monmouth Park last September. The daughter of Daaher got a lengthy break after racing four times as a juvenile, including a trip to England where she ran seventh in the Queen Mary Stakes (Eng-II) last summer on the Ascot turf. Jeffrey Sanchez has the mount once again.
Olympia Star’s Milania will be making her fourth start of 2012. Previously trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, she is now in the barn of Gennadi Dorochenko. The Bernardini filly won an optional claimer at a mile March 29 at Golden Gate Fields in her most recent start. This will be her stakes debut, with Miguel Mena getting the mount.
Israel Acevedo’s Piskacha scored in a second-level allowance sprint by 2 1/2 lengths at Mountaineer in her most recent start March 5. It was the first win in the last six tries for the daughter of Master of Command. As a juvenile, Piskacha started twice on the Keeneland Polytrack, missing by a neck in her second try last spring.
Completing the field is the front-running Livi Makenzie, who won an optional claimer at Oaklawn Park in February and was second in her last start, and Born Bullish, a New York shipper who was third at Aqueduct on March 30.
