Team Valor International CEO Barry Irwin and trainer Dale Romans are among the scheduled participants in an April 17 panel discussion hosted by the University of Kentucky’s Horse Racing Club.
The event, “Inside Horse Racing: The Road to the Triple Crown,” will begin at 6 p.m. at the Fasig Tipton sales pavilion. There will be a silent auction to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and appetizers and beverages will be served. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for the general public.
Team Valor won the 2011 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) with Animal Kingdom and is represented by Went the Day Well on the 2012 Triple Crown Trail. Romans saddled Shackleford to win the 2011 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) and trains 2012 Derby contender Dullahan.
Other speakers for the panel-style event include Jimmy Bell, president of Darley USA, and retired jockey Jean Cruguet, who won the Triple Crown with Seattle Slew. Horse Racing Radio Network’s Mike Penna will serve as master of ceremonies.
