Portland Meadows announced the new stakes schedule for the upcoming inaugural summer and fall meets that kicks off July 15. Headlining the schedule is the 47th running of the Portland Mile on Labor Day, Sept. 3. The Labor Day card will feature six stakes races and will be one of the showcase days of the season.

“We’re very thankful to the Oregon Horsemen’s and Benevolent Association, the Oregon Quarter Horse Association, and the Oregon Throughbred Owners and Breeders Association for all their support and helping us in creating the stakes schedule,” said director of racing Jerry Kohls in a release. “Also a special thanks to the Oregon HBPA and the Oregon Racing Commission for their support so we can maintain the same overnight purse schedule as the most recently concluded 2011-2012 meet.”

Oregon Championship Day will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 17 and will feature five stakes events for Oregon-breds, including the $20,000 Oregon Futurity for 2-year-olds at a mile.
