Rachel Alexandra, the 2009 Horse of the Year who produced her first foal this year, has been pronounced in foal to Darley stallion Bernardini .
The mare’s status for the 2012 breeding season was announced by owner Stonestreet Farm in a Twitter message and on Rachel Alexandra’s Facebook page. The posting did not say when the mating between Rachel and Bernardini took place.
Bernardini, who stands at Darley for a $150,000 stud fee, is the sire of the first foal produced from 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta.
Rachel Alexandra produced a colt by Curlin Jan. 22 of this year.
