Princess Arabella wins The Sunland Park Oaks.

It was nearly déjà vu for Peachtree Stable and trainer Bob Baffert March 25 when Princess Arabella ran off with the Sunland Park Oaks at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino by eight lengths while never tested (VIDEO) .

A year ago, Baffert sent out Peachtree’s Plum Pretty for a 25-length romp in the Sunland Park Oaks and that filly went on to win the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I).

Princess Arabella and jockey Martin Garcia took over at the outset and never looked back, setting fractions of :23.68, :47.24, 1:11.57 and 1:36.81 for a mile. She stopped the timer in 1:43.52 for 1 1/16 miles over a fast track.

The 1-5 favorite in the seven-horse field, the winner paid $2.40, $2.20, and $2.10. Glinda the Good paid $2.20 and $2.10, with a show price of $2.60 on Ize in Trouble. The field was completed by Take Me Away Today, Regal Betty, Feisty Flirt, and Sophisticated, who was eased.

A daughter of Any Given Saturday   trying stakes company for the first time, Princess Arabella was stretching out to two turns in the Sunland Park race after winning her first two starts in sprints at Santa Anita. The filly won by 3 1/2 lengths in her Dec. 31 debut going six furlongs, then returned to win an entry-level allowance race at seven furlongs by the same distance.

Bred in Kentucky by Greenwich Cattle Company and out of the Thunder Gulch   mare Tortuga Lady, Princess Arabella has earned $188,400 in her three victories.
