Zenyatta to be Bred to Tapit in 2012
Owners Jerry and Ann Moss have announced that 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta will be bred this year to Gainesway Farm stallion Tapit . The champion Street Cry mare, who is boarded at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky., was represented by her first foal when she produced a Bernardini colt March 8. Bernardini is a son of Lane’s End’s two-time leading sire A.P. Indy. Tapit, the second-leading sire of 2012, is a son of the A.P. Indy stallion Pulpit and is out of the stakes-winning mare Tap Your Heels. Tapit, the Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I) winner who stands for $125,000 at the Beck family’s Gainesway Farm near Lexington, has been represented by seven grade I winners, including 2011 champion 2-year-old male Hansen.
