Swiftly Classic Tops Keeneland Monday Sale Session

Swiftly Classic, a 4-year-old mare who is pregnant to Old Trieste, brought $145,000 to top Monday's session of Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale.

Woodlynn Farm bought Swiftly Classic, a bay mare by Sky Classic out of Swift Alliance, by Afleet. Anderson Farms, as agent for Canadian-based Sam-Son Farm, sold the mare. She is a sister to stakes winners Sky Alliance and Classic Alliance.

Old Trieste's first foals are weanlings this year. He was a stakes winner of $847,944 during his racing career.

During Monday's session, Keeneland sold 220 horses for $3,561,200, an average of $16,187. The 106 horses that did not attain their reserve prices represented 32.5% of the total through the ring. At the comparable session one year ago, 261 horses averaged $23,054, with gross sales of $6,017,200, with a buyback rate of 21.8% as 73 horses were not sold.

Through eight days of the 11-day auction, 1,779 horses have been sold for $172,324,000, an average of $96,866. The sale continues through Thursday.
