U.S.-Breds 1-2 in Keio 2-Year-Old Stakes

Siberian Meadow, a juvenile son of Meadowlake, remained undefeated in three starts when he scored a one-length triumph over favored Agnes Sonic (by Unbridled's Song) in the Keio 2-Year-Old Stakes (Jpn-II) at Tokyo Racecourse. The winner, owned by Yoshio Fujita and trained by Masahiro Horii, completed the seven furlongs over "very soft" turf in 1:25.8.
Produced from the Slew o' Gold mare Tashjir, Siberian Meadow was bred in Kentucky by Highland Farms. Consigned by Eaton Sales to the 2000 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling sale, the colt was purchased by Durham Co. for $60,000.
Runner-up Agnes Sonic, was also bred in Kentucky, by Beth Clifton. Produced from the Nureyev mare Shelia Dacre, the colt was bought by Shadai Farm for $450,000 from the Three Chimneys Sales consignment to the 2000 Keeneland September yearling sale.
