Indian Charlie Filly Dazzles in OBS Preview

Hip #213, filly, Indian Charlie - Winter Forest, by Forestry, worked 1/8 of a mile in in :9 4/5.

An Indian Charlie filly was among standouts March 9 during the second and final session of the under tack show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. March select sale of 2-year-olds in training. 

She turned in the fastest work at an eighth of a mile in Central Florida, covering the distance in :9 4/5 over the OBS track’s synthetic Safetrack surface.

Consigned by Old South Farm, agent, the bay juvenile is the second foal out of the Forestry   mare Winter Forest, who finished second once and third once in her five career races. Winter Forest is a full sister to added-money winner Ever Elusive and a half sister to another stakes winner, Saratoga Summer (by Time for a Change).

Old South’s Albert Davis purchased the Indian Charlie filly for $100,000 from Summerfield, agent for Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale. She is Hip No. 213 in the OBS March auction’s catalog.

The OBS March sale is scheduled for March 13-14. Each session will begin at 11 a.m. (EDT).

A daughter of Pomeroy   and a son of Read the Footnotes were quickest at a quarter mile, each posting a time of :20 4/5.

Eddie Woods, agent, is the consignor of the Pomeroy filly. The bay juvenile is a half sister to six winners, including Peachy Kiss (by Impeachment), who finished second in the 2009 Maryland Racing Media Handicap at Laurel Park. They are out of the winning Montbrook mare Willie Brook.

Happy Days Stables bought the Pomeroy filly for $55,000 from St George Sales, agent, at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July select yearling auction. She is Hip No. 208 in the OBS March sale’s catalog.

Southern Chase Farm, agent, is the consignor of the Read the Footnotes colt. The chestnut juvenile is a half brother to the winner Mizzen Dixie (by Mizzen Mast  ). They are out of the unraced Dixie Union mare Dixie Talent, who is a half sister to grade III winner No Giveaway (by He's Tops) and stakes winner and stakes producer Youcan’ttakeme (by He’s Tops).

SCF, agent, acquired the Read the Footnotes colt for $27,000 from Kenneth M. Lejeune, agent, at the 2011 OBS winter mixed sale. The juvenile is Hip No. 298 in the OBS March auction’s catalog.
