Street Hero Colt Shines in Melbourne Finale

A son of Street Hero   was the most expensive horse sold on the fourth and final day of the William Inglis & Son Melbourne premier yearling auction in Australia. Victorian trainer Peter Moody purchased the colt for Aust$125,000 ($135,006 in U.S. funds) from Makybe on March 1.

The chestnut yearling is a half brother to the winners Pure Whisper (by Purrealist), Tallica (by Tale of the Cat), and Whisper Her Name (by French Deputy). Their dam, Quiet Name (by Danehill), raced six times, but failed to win. She is a half sister to No Dream (by Anabaa), who captured the 2007 Prix Suresnes in France.

Moody also bought the day’s second highest-priced horse, a Purrealist – Smytzer’s Thunder colt, for Aust$115,000 ($124,206) from Makybe.

The results for the final session included a gross of Aust$2,902,000 ($3,134,310) for the 102 yearlings that were sold. The average price was Aust$28,451 ($30,729) and the median price was Aust$22,000 ($23,761). The clearance rate was 66.2%.

The gross for the day boosted the total for the entire sale to Aust$34,843,000 ($37,632,200).
