Keeneland has cataloged 161 horses for its 20th April sale of 2-year-olds in training. The number is down 4.7% from last year’s total of 169.
The auction is scheduled for April 9 in Lexington and will start at 4 p.m. (EDT). The sale’s under tack show will be held April 5, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Graduates of the auction include two-time champion and 2010 Preakness Stakes (gr. I) winner Lookin At Lucky ; champion Big Brown , who captured the Kentucky Derby Presented By Yum! Brands (gr. I) and Preakness in 2008; and champion Thunder Gulch , who triumphed in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes (gr. I) in 1995.
“The April sale boasts a historically strong graduate record, and that speaks to the top-quality individuals offered,” said Walt Robertson, Keeneland’s vice president of sales. “We are very proud of our classic horses. They are among the more than 100 graded stakes-winning alumni, highlighted recently by such standouts as Wilburn , Haynesfield , and Jersey Town , as well as 3-year-old West Coast stakes winner Midnight Transfer.”
