Lady Railrider to be Bred to Lucky Pulpit

Lady Railrider has been retired from racing and has been shipped to Harris Farms near Coalinga, Calif., to begin her new career as a broodmare. 

The 7-year-old dark bay or brown mare was bred and campaigned by her owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Williams, owners of Tree Top Ranch in Parma, ID.

Trained by Steve Specht for most of her career, Lady Railrider won stakes at 2, 3, and 4, including the California Cup Matron, Pacific Heights Stakes twice, and the Work the Crowd Stakes. A consistent performer, she was on the board in 26 of 35 lifetime starts and earned $603,041.

Lady Railrider, who is by Ride the Rails out of Lady Evergreen (by Lord Carson), has been booked to the Williams’ promising young stallion Lucky Pulpit  , California’s champion freshman sire of 2010. Lucky Pulpit is currently represented by Rousing Sermon, a grade I-placed winner of the Cal Cup Juvenile and California champion 2-year old male of 2011.

Tree Top Ranch manager Dan Kiser commented, ”Lady Railrider has been so good to us and I am happy to be able to retire her sound. I think she will be a nice addition to our broodmare band. Steve Specht did a great job training her and I know she has a special place in his heart, too.”
