Dick Powell has handicapped every race since the Dubai International Racing Carnival’s inception in 2004. He sets the morning line for the Carnival races and his selections and analysis can be found at www.amwestentertainment.com.

Race 1: Swaidan Trading Company - Goodyear Handicap (9:30 a.m. EST)
About 1 3/16 Miles on the Tapeta main track
$120,000 for Northern Hemisphere 4+ and Southern Hemisphere 3+
For Horses rated 100-110

This race will be run around two turns on the main track with a long run to the first turn. SARRSAR (Shamardal) beat CAPPONI two starts back going this distance then just missed against that rival last out. Should be able to stalk the pace from here with Barzalona back aboard. CAPPONI (Medicean) beat SARRSAR last out here and should be the one to catch with Dettori. He draws inside and only picks up a pound off his last win. VAGABOND SHOES (Beat Hollow) won a group three stakes race in France last July on firm going which he should get again. Should get a lot of conditioning out of all-weather prep here three weeks ago.

Selections:
#3   SARRSAR
#1   CAPPONI
#2   VAGABOND SHOES

Race 2: Swaidan Trading Company - Peugeot Handicap (10:05 a.m. EST)
About 1 3/8 Miles on the Tapeta main track
$120,000 for Northern Hemisphere 4+ and Southern Hemisphere 3+
For horses rated 100-110

This race will be run around two turns on the main track with a long run into the first turn. SPRING OF FAME (Grand Slam) was no match for PRINCE BISHOP two starts back going ten furlongs then won here last out going this distance. He draws well and gets Barzalona back aboard. JAMR (Singspiel) won three in a row here on the Tapeta before just missing last out. He has constantly improved in his starts on the Tapeta and gets a two-pound weight shift in his favor. JARDIM (Ski Champ) finished full of run here last out going shorter. He was victimized by extreme outside posts in his last two starts here and drops three pounds.

Selections:
#1  SPRING OF FAME
#7   JAMR
#5   JARDIM

Race 3: Meydan Classic sponsored by the Saeed & Mohammed al Naboodah Group (10:45 a.m. EST)
About 1 Mile on the Turf
$150,000 for Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere 3YO

This race will be run around one turn on the turf course.  Use the www.emiratesracing.com website to get the individual ratings of all the horses in these races. Run under weight-for-ages conditions, the higher rated horses have a big advantage in here. CASH LUCK (Bradbury’s Luck) ships in from Singapore for Mike Freedman off some strong efforts. He is the highest rated horse in the field by far and the extra weight he carries should not be a problem. ENTIFAADHA (Dansili) won a group three stakes race last year in Great Britain going seven furlongs and returns to the races off a five-month layoff. FACTORY TIME (Baltic King) was a sharp winner here last out and could be tough if he goes to the lead.

Selections:
#2   CASH LUCK
#8   ENTIFAADHA
#5   FACTORY TIME

Race 4: UAE Oaks (UAE-III) sponsored by the Saeed & Mohammed al Naboodah Group (11:20 a.m. EST)
About 1 3/16 Miles on the Tapeta main track
$250,000 for Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere 3YO Fillies

This race will be run around two turns on the main track with a long run to the first turn. Use the www.emiratesracing.com website to get the individual ratings of all the horses in these races. Run under weight-for-ages conditions, the higher rated horses have a big advantage in here.  PIMPERNEL (Invincible Spirit) was no match for GAMILATI last out here but looks to have a big class edge here. She ran well in her Tapeta debut and her dam is a half-sister to three graded stakes winners including EAGLE MOUNTAIN. FALLS OF LORA (Street Cry) ran against good ones in Europe last season and now makes his Tapeta debut for Al Zarooni. ALSINDI (Acclamation) was no match for GAMILATI two starts in a row and won a group three stakes race at Newmarket last September in only her second career start.

Selections:
#6   PIMPERNEL
#2   FALLS OF LORA
#3   ALSINDI

Race 5: Al Naboodah Construction Group Handicap (11:55 a.m.)
About 5 Furlongs on the Turf
$175,000 for Northern Hemisphere 4+ and Southern Hemisphere 3+
For horses rated 100+

This race will be run down the straightaway of the turf course. PROHIBIT (Oasis Dream) won the King’s Stand (Eng-I) last year on the straightaway at Royal Ascot and is the highest rated horse in here. He draws on the outside and he has carried similar weights to victory before. MAR ADENTRO (Marju) just missed behind the top choice in France last September. He ran well in the Prix de L’Abbaye (Fr-I) next out and has a race over the course this year. Only poor race for INXILE (Fayruz) was when he dwelt at the start three starts back and looks fit off a close second at course and distance last out.

Selections:
#1   PROHIBIT
#5   MAR ADENTRO
#3   INXILE

Race 6:  Al Naboodah Construction Group (12:30 p.m. EST)
About 1 1/8 Miles on the Turf
$100,000 Northern Hemisphere 4+ and Southern Hemisphere 3+

This race will be run on the turf around one turn with a long run down the backstretch into the turn. REROUTED (Stormy Atlantic  ) ran well on the Tapeta here going six furlongs then came back with a good third going seven furlongs on the turf. In both starts, he drew extremely wide posts and gets major relief today. Only question is the distance. CITY STYLE (City Zip  ) was a good second behind MUSIR who has looked spectacular this season with wins on both surfaces. He should be fit as could be in his third start of the season and draws well. TAJAAWEED (Dynaformer) has won group stakes races in both Great Britain and America and is now with Doug Watson. He draws well and gets stable rider Richard Hills in the irons.

Selections:
#9   REROUTED
#3   CITY STYLE
#2   TAJAAWEED
