KEMI Program Gets New Coordinator

Leslie Janecka has been named the coordinator of the Kentucky Equine Management Internship program.
Janecka recently completed her MS in animal science with an emphasis in reproductive physiology from Texas Tech University. Janecka has held teaching responsibilities in horse production, management, and training as the Horse Center manager since 1997.
From 1993-1997, Janecka worked as the farm manager for Robinson Farm in Fort Worth, Texas.
Shannon White, previously program coordinator for KEMI, has accepted a position with Fares Farm in Lexington as the boarding operations manager. White will remain involved with the program as an advisor on the board of directors.
The KEMI program has placed 80 students representing 44 colleges and universities in six countries. More than 40% of the students who have completed the program are employed full-time in the Thoroughbred industry. The program currently has 17 students enrolled for the spring 2002 semester.
