Fox Hill Farm’s Havre de Grace zipped five furlongs in :59 4/5 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots Feb. 20 as the reigning Horse of the Year continued to work toward her 2012 debut.
With exercise rider Jen Brasser aboard, the daughter of Saint Liam went to the track shortly after it opened for training and was timed in splits of :12, :24 1/5, :36 1/5, and :48. Fair Grounds press notes said the 5-year-old mare was not asked for much by Brasser once they hit the wire, and Havre de Grace galloped out six furlongs in 1:14 3/5.
Trainer Larry Jones continued to stretch out Havre de Grace’s workouts in preparation for her 2012 debut. Her two previous works this year at Fair Grounds were at three furlongs and four furlongs, respectively.
Havre de Grace has earned $2,496,175 while finishing on the board in 14 of 15 starts, with a fourth-place effort against males in her season-ending Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) last year. Bred in Kentucky by Nancy Dillman, the mare was purchased for $380,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale.
