Rodman, a graded stakes winner for owner Barry K. Schwartz, has been retired from racing. The 7-year-old son of Malibu Moon currently resides at Schwartz’s Stonewall Farm near Granite Falls, N.Y. Breeding plans are undecided.
A $150,000 Keeneland September sale yearling, Rodman was a graded stakes winner in 2009 and was a stakes winner and grade I stakes-placed last year.
Rodman captured the 2009 Queens County Handicap (gr. III) at Aqueduct. In 2011, he won the Irish Tower Stakes at Aqueduct and finished second to Tizway in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I). He was also third to Flat Out and Hymn Book in the Suburban Handicap (gr. II). In his last start, Rodman finished fourth behind Flat Out, Drosselmeyer , and Stay Thirsty in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (gr. I) in October.
Rodman, who was trained by Michael Hushion, was retired with a record of 6-4-1 from 18 starts and earnings of $416,152,
Bred in Kentucky by David E. Hager II, Rodman is out of the Affirmed mare Crystal Gem, who is a half sister to stakes winners Silver Haze and Silence Dogood.
