While the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships Oct. 27 marked the end of the racing year or was the career finale for many participants, others plan to remain in training and will even race again before the 2001 season ends.
Distaff (gr. I) winner Unbridled Elaine may race at Churchill Nov. 22 in the $250,000 Falls City Handicap (gr. III).
Fantastic Light, Godolphin's impressive Turf (gr. IT) winner, will be sent to the Japan Cup (Jpn-I), which will be his final start before he's retired to stand at England's Dalham Hall Stud.
Repent, second to undefeated Johannesburg in the Bessemer Trust Juvenile (gr. I), could make his next start at Churchill in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II) Nov. 24.
Xtra Heat, second in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), is slated make her last start this year in the Nov. 17 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash (gr. I) at Laurel Park. One of her owners, Kenneth Taylor, said the March 23 Golden Shaheen (UAE-I) is being considered for the filly.
Xtra Heat was entered in an online sale last fall and bought back for more than $1 million. According to Taylor, she's no longer for sale.
