Blue Bunting, an English champion and classic winner for Godolphin, has been retired from racing. The daughter of Dynaformer is booked to Darley stallion Street Cry.

Four-year-old Blue Bunting sustained a leg injury when being prepared for the Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-I) March 31. Veterinary tests have revealed that she would require a lengthy layoff before being returned to training,

Blue Bunting last year won three English stakes including the QIPCO One Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) and the Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Eng-I) and was England’s champion 3-year-old filly at 11 to 14 furlongs. She started once last year in Ireland, winning the Darley Irish Oaks (Ire-I).

Blue Bunting was retired with a record of 5-1-0 from eight starts and earnings of $1,066,879.

Bred in Kentucky by B.M. Kelley, Blue Bunting is out of the Linamix mare Miarixa, who is a half sister to stakes-winner/stakes producer Marque Royale. Blue Bunting was bought at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale for $200,000 by Anthony Stroud from Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services, agent.
