English Champion Blue Bunting Retired Blue Bunting, an English champion and classic winner for Godolphin, has been retired from racing. The daughter of Dynaformer is booked to Darley stallion Street Cry. Four-year-old Blue Bunting sustained a leg injury when being prepared for the Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-I) March 31. Veterinary tests have revealed that she would require a lengthy layoff before being returned to training, Blue Bunting last year won three English stakes including the QIPCO One Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) and the Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Eng-I) and was England’s champion 3-year-old filly at 11 to 14 furlongs. She started once last year in Ireland, winning the Darley Irish Oaks (Ire-I). Blue Bunting was retired with a record of 5-1-0 from eight starts and earnings of $1,066,879. Bred in Kentucky by B.M. Kelley, Blue Bunting is out of the Linamix mare Miarixa, who is a half sister to stakes-winner/stakes producer Marque Royale. Blue Bunting was bought at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale for $200,000 by Anthony Stroud from Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services, agent.
