Marchfield's First Foal Reported in Canada

The first reported foal by Canadian champion Marchfield   was born at Windhaven Farm in Caledon, Ontario. The chestnut filly out of Casey's Irish Pride was born Jan. 25.

A two-champion older horse in Canada by A.P. Indy out of Canadian Broodmare of the Year Pico Tenerife, Marchfield stands at Michael and Laurel Byrne's Park Stud near Orangeville, Ontario for $4,000 CDN.

Marchfield, a homebred who raced for Eugene Melnyk, won the final jewel of the Canadian 3-year-old Triple Crown, the Breeders' Stakes on turf. He finished first or second in 15 or 23 races while earning $1,040,161. His career included victories in the Autumn Stakes (Can-IIT), the Sky Classic Stakes (Can-IIT), and the Dominion Day Handicap (Can-III) during his championship years.
