Sawtooth Mountain, a stakes-placed winner and $1 million 2007 Keeneland September sale yearling, has been retired from racing and will stand the 2012 breeding season for owner Wayne George at Circle G Farms in Atoka, Okla.
The son of champion 2-year-old Johannesburg out of the multiple stakes-producing Quiet American mare American Jewel will stand for $1,000, with special consideration to approved mares.
Sawtooth Mountain finished second in the Coolmore Hurricane Run Stakes in Ireland as a 2-year-old, then returned to the United States and won an allowance race at one mile and 70 yards on the dirt at Aqueduct during his 4-year-old season, beating graded stakes-placed runners.
In all, 6-year-old Sawtooth Mountain won four races and earned $121,013 over four seasons of racing. He is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Awsugahnow.
The stallion deal was brokered by New Jersey-based bloodstock agent Michael Slezak.
