Kentucky Veterinarian Arnold Pessin Dies

Arnold G. Pessin, a Kentucky veterinarian who built the Kentucky Training Center, has died. He was 83.

Pessin graduated from Cornell University and Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine. He founded Winchester Farm, a 500-acre stallion and broodmare complex, where he stood successful sire Olden Times.

Pessin built the Kentucky Training Center, the first Kentucky site for Fasig-Tipton Sales, and Dueling Grounds Race Track, now Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Ky.

His survivors included his former wife, Frances; a son, Neil; and daughters Pam, Holly, and Jan.

Visitation will be at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road Jan. 24, from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be private.
