Sheikh Mohammed's homebred champion and group I producer Oh So Sharp has been euthanized after suffering from laminitis. She had developed problems after foaling a Danehill colt in the spring.
"We'll miss her very much, but we still have her last foal to look forward to," said Liam O'Rourke of Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Stud Management.
Oh So Sharp (Kris--Oh So Fair, by Graustark) captured England's Filly Triple Crown, taking the group I Epsom Oaks, One Thousand Guineas, and St. Leger Stakes. She retired with seven wins and two seconds from nine starts for earnings of $505,280. She produced two prominent winners: French group I winner Rosefinch and U.S. grade II winner Shaima, both of whom are stakes producers. Shaima's son Shantou also won the St. Leger and was a champion in England and Italy.
