The Keeneland January horses of all ages sale offers buyers a chance to get busy early in 2012, especially if they’re seeking broodmares, broodmare prospects, and yearlings. Following is a list of some of the auction’s most attractive prospects based on pedigree that hadn’t been scratched as of the morning of Jan. 6. The sale is scheduled for Jan.9-12 in Lexington.

SESSION ONE (JAN. 9)
 
Hip No. 61, Mons Venus, a mare by Maria's Mon – Bid to the Mint, by Key to the Mint. Consigned by VanMeter Sales, agent.
This 11-year-old unraced half-sister to stakes winner Jaded Pleasure (by Jade Hunter) is the dam of Caracortado (by Cat Dreams), winner of the Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. IIT) and Robert B. Lewis Stakes (gr. II). He also captured the Daytona Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Santa Anita Park Jan. 8. Mons Venus is in foal to Harlan's Holiday.

Hip No. 67, Nothing to Declare, a filly by Vindication – Spice Island, by Tabasco Cat. Consigned by Bluewater Sales, agent.
This unplaced 3-year-old broodmare prospect is out of a grade II winner and is a half sister to Florida Derby (gr. I) winner and Kentucky Derby Presented By Yum! Brands (gr. I) runner-up Ice Box   (by Pulpit).

Hip No. 108, Receipt, a mare by Dynaformer – Finder’s Fee, by Storm Cat. Consigned by Three Chimneys Sales, agent.
This 7-year-old stakes-placed winner’s dam, Finder’s Fee (by Storm Cat), and second dam, Fantastic Find (by Mr. Prospector), were grade I winners. Other family members include grade I winners Dancing Spree and Furlough. She is in foal to Indian Charlie.

Hip No. 124, Satans Quick Chick, a mare by Sky Mesa   – Dancing Devlette, by Devil's Bag. Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent.
This 6-year-old broodmare prospect won the Lexus Raven Run Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland and is a half sister to grade III winner and stakes producer Pratella (by Jade Hunter), added-money winner Satan’s Code (by Polish Numbers), and stakes producer Dancing Pratella (by Rahy), who is the dam of Canadian grade III winner Blue Sky Holiday (by Victory Gallop).

Hip No. 141, Siren Serenade, a mare by Unbridled's Song – Versailles Treaty, by Danzig. Consigned by Three Chimneys Sales, agent.
This four-time second-place finisher is out of a grade I winner and is a half sister to Remsen Stakes (gr. II) winner Saarland (by Unbridled). A 6-year-old, she is in foal to Tale of the Cat  .

This winner of the Long Island Handicap (gr. II) is the dam of Florida Derby (gr. I) winner and Kentucky Derby Presented By Yum! Brands (gr. I) runner-up Ice Box   (by Pulpit). Other family members include Horse of the Year and Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Spend a Buck (by Buckaroo). A 13-year-old, she is in foal to Tapit  .

This 14-year-old winner of the Santa Margarita Invitational (gr. I) and Santa Maria (gr. I) handicaps is a half sister to grade I winner Stellar Jayne (by Wild Rush). Her other siblings include grade III producers Emerging Glory (by Smarten) and Topliner (by Thunder Gulch  ). Starrer is in foal to Awesome Again.

This 8-year-old winner is a half sister to grade II winner Parading (by Pulpit). Her second dam, grade I winner My Flag (by Easy Goer), produced champion Storm Flag Flying (by Storm Cat) and is a half sister to grade I winners Miner’s Mark and Traditionally. Viva La Flag is in foal to Stormy Atlantic  .

Hip No. 216, Waltzing Around, a mare by Ela-Mana-Mou – Save Me the Waltz, by Kings Lake. Consigned by Sam-Son Farm.
This 17-year-old half sister to Matron Stakes (gr. I)  winner Sense of Style (by Thunder Gulch  ) and Dubai Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Fr-I) winner Valentine Waltz (by Be My Guest) produced English group III winner Steele Tango (by Okawango). In foal to Smart Strike  , she also is from the family of grade I winner Last Tycoon, who was a champion in England and France, and German and Italian champion Astronef.

This bay filly is out of a stakes winner and is a half sister to the stakes-placed winner Paseo Alegro (by Unbridled's Song). She is from the family of champion Althea and grade I winners Aldiza and Ketoh.

This unraced full sister  to Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Rags to Riches (by A.P. Indy), who was a champion, and  half sister to another Belmont winner, Jazil   (by Seeking the Gold), is in foal to Giant's Causeway  . A 10-year-old, she also is a half sister to grade II winner Casino Drive (by Mineshaft  ) and Irish champion Man of Iron (by Giant's Causeway  ).  Her dam was a grade II winner and a Kentucky Broodmare of the Year.

This winning English group II-placed 6-year-old is a half sister to Ladiy's Secret (gr. I) and Las Virgenes (gr. I) stakes winner Zazu (byTapit  ) and is in foal to Tapit  .

Hip No. 675, Cozi Rosi, a mare by Pleasantly Perfect   – Felidia, by Golden Fleece. Consigned by Lane’s End, agent. This 5-year-old broodmare prospect won the John C. Mabee Stakes (gr. II) and Buena Vista Handicap (gr. II). She is a half sister to grade II winner Lexicon (by Conquistador Cielo) and added-money winner My Captain (by Conquistador Cielo).
