Thoroughbred owner and breeder Jerry Jamgotchian announced he will donate $100,000 from the sale of Morekissesforpatti at Keeneland’s upcoming January horses of all ages sale, to the athletic department of his alma mater, the University of Southern California.
Consigned as a broodmare prospect by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, Morekissesforpatti is a 5-year-old mare by Unbridbled’s Song. She will sell as Hip #62 during the Jan. 9 opening session.
Named for Jamgotchian’s wife, Patti, the mare is out of Magpie (by Woodman), a full sister to champion 3-year-old colt and classic winner Hansel and graded stakes winner Lahint. Morekissesforpatti was a winner at 3 and 4, setting a course record of 1:27.74 for 7½ furlongs at Indiana Downs.
A resident of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Jamgotchian graduated from the USC school of business, now known as the Marshall School of Business, in 1974 with an emphasis in real estate finance and development.
“My USC education has provided me and my family with exceptional business and personal opportunities,” he said in a release. “Therefore, I wanted to show my appreciation by giving back to USC and helping other Trojan students fulfill their dreams and benefit from my success.”
Jamgotchian, whose stable earned nearly $900,000 in 2011, owns approximately 80 horses, 60 of which are currently in training.
He is probably better known for his efforts as a racing industy critic, however, and has engaged in several court battles with officials in California and Kentucky.
Among his most prominent runners is Satans Quick Chick, winner of the 2009 Lexus Raven Run Stakes (gr. II) and a career earner of more than $435,000. Satans Quick Chick also is slated to be sold during the Jan. 9 session (Hip #124) of the January sale.
