Thoroughbred racetracks in Pennsylvania are scheduled to offer a combined 504 live racing days in 2012.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course will open the evening of Jan. 5 and race 197 days through Dec. 29. Parx Racing, which began its meet Jan. 1, was awarded 207 days of live racing through Dec. 31. Presque Isle Downs & Casino will offer 100 days of racing from May 14-Sept. 28.
Penn National will race only three days per week in January and February: Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 6 p.m. EST. Wednesdays will be added in March and Tuesdays added in November and December.
Parx has done away with its August break and will race Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays year-round with the exception of one week in April when sister track Atlantic City Race Course in New Jersey is open. First post time is 12:25 p.m. with the exception of Sept. 22, when it moves to 12:05 p.m. for the Pennsylvania Derby (gr. II) program.
Presque Isle will race Monday through Friday each week with first post time set for 5:30 p.m.
