Peggy Hendershot, who has headed the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s legislative endeavors, is leaving the organization at the end of 2011.
Hendershot, in an e-mail to contacts, said she will continue in a fundraising role for the NTRA federal political action committee, Horse PAC, as a consultant. She has worked for the NTRA for 13 years.
NTRA president and chief executive officer Alex Waldrop will handle legislative questions for the organization.
"We wish Peggy all the best in her new venture," Waldrop said Dec. 29. "We are very pleased that Peggy will continue her critical role with the NTRA's Horse PAC as a PAC board consultant and fundraiser."
Hendershot, based in Lexington, has worked closely with the NTRA’s Washington, D.C.-based lobbying firm on issues of relevance to the horse racing and breeding industry.
