Dominguez, Studart to Assist MDA Fundraiser

Ramon Dominguez

Jockeys Ramon Dominguez and Maylan Studart will be among the Metro New York athletes participating on the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s 2012 Muscle Team for the 15th Annual Muscle Team Gala & Benefit Auction scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.

The annual reception and fundraiser gathers top local athletes who have chosen to put their muscle behind the search to find a cure for neuromuscular diseases.

Dominguez, the 2010 Eclipse award winner as the nation’s outstanding jockey, will be participating on the Muscle Team for the second time, while Studart is making her fourth appearance.

In addition to Dominguez and Studart, the 2011 Muscle Team includes Mathias Kiwanuka, Ramses Barden, Steve Weatherford, Michael Boley, Hakeem Nicks, Chris Snee, Da’Rel S Cott, Lawrence Tynes, and Clint Sintim, all of the New York Giants; LaDainian Tomlinson, Shonn Greene, Jamaal Westerman, and Bryan Thomas, all of the Jets;  Toney Douglas of the Knicks, Anthony Morrow of the Nets, and Matt Kassel and Stephen Keel, representing Red Bull.

Each member of the 2012 Muscle Team will be paired with their MDA Buddy—a child from the Metro-New York area who is affected by a neuromuscular disease.
