Graded stakes winner Chocolate Candy has been retired from racing for stallion duty in 2012 at Bar None Ranches near Dewinton, Alberta, Canada. The 5-year-old son of Candy Ride   will stand for $2,500 (Canadian funds).

Bred by Sid and Jenny Craig, Chocolate Candy won the El Camino Real Derby (gr. III), the California Derby, and the Real Quiet Stakes for the Craig Family Trust. He ran second to Pioneerof the Nile in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I), finished third in the CashCall Futurity (gr. I), and was fifth in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, Chocolate Candy was retired with eight top-three finishes from 21 starts and earnings of $632,205.

Chocolate Candy is out of stakes winner Crownette (by Seattle Slew) and is a half brother to the granddam of grade I winner Twirling Candy   (by Candy Ride). Chocolate Candy’s second dam is a half sister to Triple Crown winner Affirmed.
