Fort Prado , whose first foals are weanlings of 2011, will be relocated to Buck Pond Farm in Versailles, Ky., for the 2012 season. The 10-year-old son of El Prado--Fort Pond, by Fortunate Prospect, will stand for $5,000 live foal.
An Illinois-bred who raced for breeder David Block and Team Block, Fort Prado was a durable campaigner, winning 18 of 59 starts, with 18 placings and earnings of $1,211,681. Included among his 13 stakes wins were the Fair Grounds Breeders’ Cup Handicap and John B. Connally Breeders’ Cup Turf Handicap, both grade III.
Fort Prado, who previously stood at Hill ‘n Dale Farm in Barrington, Ill., had three weanlings from his first crop sell at the recent Keeneland November breeding stock sale for an average of $51,667.
