Trainer Keith G. Bourgeois won the 2,000th race of his career when he saddled Dynamic Time for victory by a nose in the sixth race at Delta Downs on the night of Nov. 30.
Based in Lafayette, La., Bourgeois has long been a fixture at Louisiana tracks, where he has won seven training titles at Delta Downs and has also captured multiple titles at Evangeline Downs. In 2009, he won 192 races and ranked 10th in total victories in North America.
HIs milestone win came in a $10,000 claiming race at 6 1/2 furlongs. Dynamic Time ($8.40), a 4-year-old gelding by Gilded Time ridden by Tracy Herbert, outfought Brendyn Jo in a stretch duel to prevail on the inside. The chestnut is owned by Tracc Masters Racing Stable.
A native of Church Point, La., Bourgeois won the first race of his career Oct. 22, 1988 at defunct Jefferson Downs. According to Equibase, he has had 11,193 starters with total earnings of $26,512,880. In addition to his 2,000 wins, he Bourgeois has accumulated 1,689 seconds and 1,487 thirds.
