ReRun announced its annual holiday auction of Moneighs will take place now through Dec. 4 on Ebay. The original, abstract, 16” x 20” paintings are created by some of North America’s most prominent Thoroughbreds.
This auction’s theme is “Competition at its Best,” and plays on the game of “Six Degrees of Separation.”
“All the artists are intertwined, or have raced against one another at some point,” said Moneigh project director Mary Simons in a release. "One example of this competition is between four artists who competed against each other in the 2007 Triple Crown races. In the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), Street Sense finished first, Hard Spun second, Curlin third, and Cowtown Cat last. But perhaps Cowtown Cat is the more talented artist. Now fans can view the paintings and decide which horse is the best, competing off the race track, as an artist!”
Other featured artists who are connected to each other through graded stakes races or pedigree are: Albert The Great , Lido Palace, Artie Schiller , Kitten's Joy , Bernardini , Greeley's Legacy, Sun King, Colonel John , Einstein , Magna Graduate , Tale Of Ekati , Big Brown , Evening Attire, Medaglia D'Oro , Repent, Monarchos , Congaree , and Western Pride.
Proceeds from the annual auction support ex-racehorses awaiting adoption at ReRun’s foster farms in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
