Godolphin's Street Cry has not raced since finishing second in the United Arab Emirates Derby (UAE-III) in late March and will face a solid field of 3-year-olds in Wednesday's $100,000 Discovery Handicap (gr. III), the opening day feature of Aqueduct Racetrack's 44-day Fall Meeting.
Street Cry has yet to race in New York, but the son of Machiavellian began his career on the West Coast last summer. He showed promise under the care of trainer Eion Harty, finishing second behind Flame Thrower in a pair of grade II's -- the Del Mar Futurity and Norfolk. Following a third-place finish in the 2000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) was sent to Dubai with the rest of Godolphin's stateside juveniles to train for the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) under Saeed bin Suroor.
Challenging Street Cry will be Sabine Stable's Dayton Flyer, who has won two straight races and may go off the second choice behind Street Cry. Trained by Bob Barbara, Dayton Flyer figures to be part of the early pace with Free of Love and No Show Jim.
The field for the Discovery includes: Evening Attire (Shaun Bridgmohan, 110); No Show Jim (Javier Castellano, 112); Docent (Edgar Prado, 113); Dayton Flyer (Eibar Coa, 115); Free of Love (Richard Migliore, 115); Pure Prize (John Velazquez, 112); and Street Cry (David Flores, 118).
