Musket Man, who placed in the 2009 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) and the BlackBerry Preakness Stakes (gr. I), will stand at Michele Rodriguez’s Elite Thoroughbreds near Folsom, La. Formerly at Vinery Florida near Ocala, Musket Man will stand for $2,500.

Musket Man won the Illinois Derby (gr. II) and the Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) leading up to the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. During his career he won two other stakes and placed in six additional graded stakes, including the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I), the Carter Handicap (gr. I), and the Whitney Handicap (gr. I).

“Musket Man is by Yonaguska, who formerly stood here at Elite, so we’re excited that we’re standing his classics-placed son,” Rodriguez said.

Five-year-old Musket Man is out of the stakes-placed Fortunate Prospect mare Fortuesque.
