Goffs Foal Sale Kicks Off With Big Gains
The Goffs November foal sale got off to a roaring start in Ireland Nov. 15. The number sold and gross during the opening session were up 47% and 121.7% from a year ago. The average price and median price grew 50.8% and 80%, respectively. In addition, the clearance rate rose to 63.9% from 51.5% in 2010. “We are delighted with such a strong start to the foal sale,” said Henry Beeby, Goffs’ chief executive. “We have focused on quality well-conformed individuals with pedigrees to match and we look forward to building on today’s success as the week progresses.” The 147 weanlings that were sold grossed €1,604,900 ($2,199,790 in U.S. funds). The average was €10,918 ($14,965) and the median was €9,000 ($12,336). An Elnadim filly out of the Danehill mare Quaich brought the top price of €47,000 ($64,422). Powerstown Stud purchased her from Rathasker Stud.
