The strong pace continued at Keeneland’s November breeding stock sale Nov. 13, highlighted by the $190,000 paid by Castleton Lyons for Sanadaat, a 3-year-old filly by Unbridled's Song .
Consigned by Shadwell Farm, agent as a racing or broodmare prospect, Sanadaat finished second in her career debut at Gulfstream Park in March, but has not raced since then. Out of the graded stakes-winning Mt. Livermore mare Lindsay Frolic, Sanadaat is a half-sister to multiple stakes winners Super Frolic and Stormy Frolic.
Keeneland sold 284 horses on Sunday for $6,892,600, an increase of 42.2% over 2010 when 279 horses brought $4,845,000. Average price for the day of $24,270 rose 39.7% over last year’s average of $17,366. The median of $15,500 was up 29.1% over the $12,000 posted in 2010.
With four days of the 11-day sale remaining, Keeneland has sold 1,628 horses for $196,056,500, up 48.1% from last year’s gross of $132,349,800 for 1,664 horses. Average price of $120,428 increased 51.4% from $79,537 in 2010. Median price continued to hold strong, increasing 31.4% to $46,000.
Ken and Sarah Ramsey purchased Shaaraat, a 3-year-old filly by Distorted Humor , for $150,000, the session’s second-highest price. Consigned by Shadwell Farm, agent, Shaaraat is out of English stakes winner Nafisah and a half-sister to group III victor Snaafy. She was sold as racing or broodmare prospect.
