A weanling colt by champion 2-year-old and classic winner Street Sense out of the multiple stakes winning mare Richbabe topped the sixth session at Keeneland Nov. 12, selling for $250,000 to Vail Equine. Consigned by Dapple Stud, as agent, the colt is a half-brother to Debutate Stakes winner (gr. III) Richwoman.
Keeneland sold 271 horses on Saturday for $8,852,700, a 1.14% increase from a year ago when 265 horses brought $8,752,700. The session average of $32,667 was down 1.1% from $33,029 in 2010, while the median increased 13.64% from $22,000 to $25,000.
Cumulatively, 1,344 horses have been sold for $189,163,900, up 48.36% from $127,504,800 for 1,385 horses in 2010. The average rose 48.36% from $92,061 to $140,747. The median of $60,000 is up 33.3% from last year’s $45,000.
