Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 395 lots for its Midlantic winter mixed sale. The number is up 13.2% from last year’s total of 349.
The auction will held Dec. 5 in Timonium, Md., starting at 10 a.m. EST. It will include phase II – the final phase – of the dispersal of Thoroughbred mares, weanlings, and horses of racing age from the late Carl Lizza’s Flying Zee Stables.
“It will be a busy and productive day,” said Paget Bennett, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic director of sales. “Hidden Brook, as agent, is handing the Flying Zee dispersal and, with so much focus on the New York Thoroughbred racing and breeding program, it will hold the buyers’ attention through the whole sale.”
Catalogs can be viewed at Fasig-Tipton’s website (www.fasigtipton.com), and printed versions will be available beginning Nov. 14.
There are 50 horses of racing age from Flying Zee, of which 28 are current 2-year-olds. The 30 dispersal weanlings, nearly all of which qualify for New York-bred registration, are by sires such as Freud , Fusaichi Pegasus, Hard Spun , Mineshaft , and Tale of the Cat .
