Frank Stronach went to $2.6 million to purchase Delta Princess (by A.P. Indy) and Besilu Stables acquired her Smart Strike   weanling filly for $1.6 million in back-to-back sales at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale Nov. 8.

Delta Princess, whose daughter Royal Delta won the Nov. 4 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic (gr. I) and was sold in foal to Distorted Humor  , and the Feb. 16 Smart Strike filly were consigned as Hip Nos. 313 and 314, respectively, as part of the dispersal of the late Saud bin Khaled’s Palides Investments and consigned by Khaled’s Chanteclair Farm.

Bred by Palides, Delta Princess had 11 wins from ages 2 to 6 and earned $740,918 and accounted for the Locust Grove, Early Times Mint Julep, and Beaugay Handicap, and three additional stakes. The mare was also multiple stakes-placed before being retired.

Delta Princess’ stock took a major leap when Royal Delta, her 2008 daughter sired by Empire Maker, won the $3 million Ladies’ Classic to go along with her previous wins in the Alabama Stakes (gr. I) and Black-Eyed Susan (gr. II).
