Robert and Blythe Clay’s Three Chimneys Farm has released the fees for its 2012 stallion roster, and topping the list once again will be perennial leading sire Dynaformer , who will command a fee of $150,000, which was the co-highest fee in 2011 in North America.
Big Brown , the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner, plus multiple grade II winner and track record-setter Lewis Michael , and world-record holder Red Giant , will be represented on the track by their first 2-year-olds next year.
“Big Brown’s yearlings are poised to have the best possible chance at the track as 2-year-olds in 2012,” said Three Chimneys president Case Clay. “Big Brown was the leading freshman sire at the Fasig-Tipton July sale, and his yearlings have consistently brought solid money at auction this year.”
“Exchange Rate 's first Kentucky-bred crop solidified him as a top tier stallion this year,” said Robert Clay. “He’s been one of the leading sires of 2-year-olds all year by stakes winners, stakes horses, and juvenile progeny earnings. The icing on the cake came this weekend with Excaper’s gutsy effort to finish a close second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IT).”
Point Given , the 2001 Horse of the Year, will have a stud fee of $20,000, which is the only fee increase on the farm’s roster. He stood for $7,500 in 2011.
As in years past, Three Chimneys, located near Midway, Ky., will be offering breeders a variety of incentives, including no guarantee, breed back, multiple mare and early payment discounts on many of their stallions.
