After a sizzling opening session Oct. 24, it didn’t take the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale long to generate a six-figure price during its second session. A Midnight Lute colt, the sixth horse to pass through the auction ring Oct. 25, brought $140,000 in Lexington.
Rajendra Maharajh purchased the dark bay or brown yearling. Produced from the unraced Kris S. mare Never a No Hitter, the colt is a half brother to 2009 Demoiselle Stakes (gr. II) winner Tizahit (by Tiznow ) and a member of his sire’s first crop.
Wood’s Edge Farm, agent, consigned the yearling, which was bred in Kentucky by Morgan’s Ford Farm. Morgan’s Ford, agent, offered the colt as a weanling at the 2010 Keeneland November breeding stock sale, where he was purchased by Walnut Hill Farm for $160,000.
Earlier this year, the colt was a $120,000 buy-back at the Keeneland September yearling auction when consigned by Woods Edge, agent.
