Etched to Stand at Bonita Farm in Maryland

Etched , a multiple graded stakes winner, will stand the 2012 breeding season at the Boniface family's Bonita Farm near Darlington, Md.

The 6-year-old son of Forestry , sire of this year’s Preakness (gr. I) winner Shackleford , is out of Unbridled Elaine, herself a multiple graded stakes winner in six of 11 starts, including the 2001 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. IT) as a 3-year-old, and earner of $1,770,740.

Etched was an impressive 6 3/4-length winner of his first start at Belmont in 2009. In his only other start at 2, he romped by 6 1/2 lengths in the Nashua Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct.

Etched defeated older horses late in his 3-year-old year season at Aqueduct and then won four of his next five starts, including victories in the 2009 Meadowlands Cup (gr. II) and 2010 Monmouth Cup (gr. II), both at 1 1/8 miles. Bred by Darley, Etched raced for Darley and Godolphin in his 11-start career, producing seven wins and earnings of $587,586.

“We are extremely grateful that Darley, one of the world’s premier breeding operations with stallions standing in six countries, has chosen to stand this exciting stallion in Maryland,” Bonita Farm said in a release.

Etched will stand for $3,500 live foal during the 2012 breeding season.
