Churchill Downs Inc. said Oct. 21 it will move its corporate staff from Churchill Downs to building now under construction on the east side of Louisville, Ky., early next year.
CDI said it will lease the fourth floor of “600 North Hurstbourne,” a joint development of the University of Louisville Foundation and NTS Development Company. CDI will move about 120 employees to the new building and have space for about 30 more.
The executive management team, including chairman and chief executive officer Bob Evans, will have offices at the new location, as will CDI corporate functions that have been centralized in Louisville over the last decade—corporate communications, finance, human resources, information technology, investor relations, legal services, and purchasing. The management and operations teams for United Tote will also relocate to 600 North Hurstbourne.
Current plans call for the corporate staff to move to the new office space in March 2012. The building is expected be ready for occupancy in February.
Churchill Downs racetrack staff will remain at the track.
“For decades our corporate team has enjoyed coming to work under the iconic Twin Spires at Churchill Downs,” Evans said in a statement. “As our company has evolved from one racetrack in Louisville, Ky., to a diversified organization with operations in multiple states, we’ve added about 40 positions to the corporate team that shares workspace with Churchill Downs employees at 700 Central Avenue.
“The simple truth is we’re out of room at the track, and moving corporate personnel off site makes sense as they provide management and support services for our 3,700 team members around the country.”
CDI said it previously leased office space within the Watterson Tower and the River Green Business Park for team members the company could not accommodate at the racetrack’s general offices.
