Petionville , whose 41 stakes winners include grade I winner Island Fashion, will stand in 2012 at Mike Jester’s Penn Ridge Farm near Harrisburg, Pa. The 19-year-old stallion’s stud fee has not been determined but will include special consideration for Pennsylvania-bred mares.
A grade II winner, Petionville (Seeking the Gold—Vana Turns, by Wavering Monarch) not only is the sire of three-time grade I winner Island Fashion but other graded winners Caught in the Rain, Hour Glass, Publication, Runway Model, Sailors Sunset, True Passion, Two Step Salsa , and Voodoo.
According to a Penn Ridge release, Petionville is referred to as “the best value in the business” by pedigree analyst Alan Porter. and that the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation named Petionville its 2010 No. 1 stallion in the Northern Hemisphere by lifetime percentage of starters from foals of racing age, with 83.48%.
“Petionville is a proven sire both in the sale ring and on the racetrack,” Jester said. “He has sired two session toppers at Keeneland for $900,000 and $250,000, respectively, and he is perhaps Seeking the Gold’s best son at stud."
Petionville, who boasts lifetime marks of 83% starters and 65% winners from horses of racing age, has sired 85 stakes horses and the earners of more than $33.7 million His average earnings per runner is upwards of $64,600.
Petionville stood in 2010 at Margaux Farm near Midway, Ky.
