Grade I winner Courageous Cat   will stand at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Farm near Versailles, Ky., following his retirement from racing. Farish has purchased an interest in the 5-year-old son of Storm Cat from Martin and Pam Wygod, who race the homebred runner.

Five-year-old Courageous Cat has won six races including this year’s Shoemaker Mile Stakes (gr. IT), and has earned $1,165,760. He has also won the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (gr. IIT), the Canadian Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT), and the Poker Stakes (gr. IIIT). Recently, Courageous Cat was just a neck short of winning the Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes (Can-IT). As a 3-year-old, he finished second, by a half-length, to the great international champion Goldikova in the TVG Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT).

Courageous Cat is out of the grade I-winning Rahy mare Tranquility Lake, making him a full brother to grade I winner After Market  , who stands at Lane’s End, and Dubai group II winner Jalil.

“We feel Courageous Cat is the top miler in the country, and he is certainly one of the leading candidates for this year’s Breeders’ Cup Mile,” Farish said. “After that race, he will be retired and a stud fee will be announced.”
