Chris Baker has accepted the position of general manager at Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm. The farm is located near Versailles, Ky.
Baker had been the general manager at Spring Hill Farm near Casanova, Va., for late owner Edward P. Evans. He comes to WinStar with 25 years of experience in the Thoroughbred industry, including the last 11 years spent at Spring Hill.
“I share a lot of enthusiasm with Kenny Troutt and (president and CEO) Elliott Walden on their vision for WinStar, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of such a first-class operation,” said Baker.
“Chris brings a wealth of expertise in many areas and will be a welcome addition to our team,” Walden said. “He's been around some great horses and some great people, and his contributions to the long-term success of Mr. Evans' Spring Hill Farm speak for themselves."
Spring Hill and Evans were honored as the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders' Association's national breeders of the year in 2009 and 2010, and were recognized as the TOBA Virginia breeder of the year nine times.
