Perry Alexander, a former manager of Greentree Stud near Lexington, died Friday, Oct. 7. He was 89.
A Wilmore, Ky., native, Alexander took charge of Greentree (now part of Antony Beck’s Gainesway Farm) in 1982 after the resignation of veteran manager Robert L. Green. Alexander had worked at the historic nursery from 1946 through the mid-1960s. During his career, Alexander also managed Woodstock Farm in Maryland and Villa Blanca in Kentucky.
Alexander’s survivors include sons Perry II and Larry and a daughter, Ann.
A service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Main Street, Lexington. Burial will follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Monday. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
