Elmhurst, winner of the 1997 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I), arrived at Our Mims Retirement Haven near Paris, Ky,, Monday, Oct. 3. The 21-year-old gelded son of Wild Again out of Mimbet (by Raise a Native) formerly resided at Rocking Horse Ranch near El Cajon, Calif. Elmhurst is a grandson of 1977 champion 3-year-old filly Our Mims, the namesake of the OMRH.

“The ladies have accepted Elmo into the herd without fanfare,” said OMRH President Jeanne Mirabito. “At present, his closest buddy is Lotka. But Bel’s Starlet and Missy White Oak are never far away.”

Elmhurst’s Breeders’ Cup Score came for Evergreen Farm and trainer Jenine Sahadi, who owned part of the Icecapade grandson. Elmhurst, who also raced in France, won two other stakes and earned a career total of $1,100,567.
