Vinery Ltd. announced Oct. 4 that its New York stallion operation will be based at Sugar Maple Farm near Poughquag, N.Y., for the 2012 breeding season.

According to Vinery president Tom Ludt, the stallions previously standing at Empire Stud--Frost Giant  , Justenuffhumor  , and Posse  --will join Friendly Island   and Bluegrass Cat   at Sugar Maple.

Empire Stud, located near Hudson, N.Y., will be retained as a boarding facility. Dan Hayden, the longtime manager of Sugar Maple, has been named general manager of New York operations for Vinery.

Although the farm’s primary stallion operation is based in Kentucky, Vinery also operates Vinery Florida.
